Opening Keynote
1:30 p.m., Sunday, April 6
Speaker:
James L. (Skip) Rutherford
Dean, University of Arkansas Clinton School

District IV’s conference will open on Sunday with a visit to The Clinton Presidential Library and Park—America’s 12th Presidential Library, which recently celebrated its second anniversary. We will be introduced to the library by Skip Rutherford, who served as chair of William J. Clinton Foundation from 1997-2006, stepping down from the chairmanship when he became dean of  UACS in May 2006. From 1997 until it opened in 2004, Rutherford supervised the planning for the Clinton Presidential Library.

Located in a 30-acre park on the banks of the Arkansas River in the River Market District of downtown Little Rock, the $160-million structure contains 20,000 square feet of library and museum space, including an authentic replica of the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room. Exhibits in the Clinton Library museum were designed by Ralph Appelbaum and Associates of New York, noted for creating the powerful exhibits at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. The Library works to support the many global initiatives of President Clinton’s foundation and is the permanent home to the largest presidential archive in American history.

The University of Arkansas Clinton School is also located within the park in the renovated 1899 Choctaw Station. It is the only school in the country offering a master’s degree in public service.

"Generation Digital: Photography, University Marketing, and Young People Who Know Everything When It Comes to Pictures"
9 a.m., Wednesday, April 9
Guest speaker: Jason Jones
Award-winning freelance photographer specializing in college recruitment

A couple of college-bound high school kids: She's created an award-winning MySpace site. The four-minute film he and a girlfriend shot this summer for YouTube has just passed the 3,500-hit mark. What makes you think your university web site, with its quaint references to "Making a Gift" and "Parent Resources" is going to get their attention, for even a nanosecond?

Prospective college and university students are not just sophisticated when it comes to web and print-based communications - they are defining the genre. In this highly energized, fast-moving presentation, Jason Jones will use music, humor and more than 500 photos to emphasize the importance of edgy, relevant photographic material in anything you send to Generation Digital.

Jones’ work has won dozens of ADDY awards in several markets, and he has contributed to more than 30 CASE Gold Award-winning projects. He is a frequent faculty member and speaker for regional and national CASE, CCAE and UCDA conferences. Originally from New Orleans, he moved to Toronto following what all New Orleanians refer to simply as: The Storm.
