Deans and Senior Academic Administration can be extremely influential in engaging current and potential constituents.  In this session you will hear how to engage deans; from staffing for donor appointments, prioritizing funding needs, and investing time in fundraising activities.  Participants in this session will leave with a better understanding of the perspective of the dean on fundraising and how to collaborate with deans for long-term fundraising success.

Major Trends That Impact Your Ability to Recruit Students, Raise Dollars, and Market Your Institution in 2008

Achieving your institutional goals—recruitment and advancement—require you to understand how today’s rapidly changing marketplace will impact your ability to recruit students and raise dollars. This session will examine the major demographic and social characteristics of tomorrow’s students of all ages and review how their educational needs and expectations are evolving. The presentation will also outline the college-choice characteristics of most interest to these students, pinpoint the majors most in demand, and highlight the recruiting and marketing strategies—including technology and the Internet—to which students are most likely to respond. Next, we will take a look at the changing role—and expectations—of donors. The presentation will conclude with a quick review of how changes in the marketplace and academia have impacted leadership and management in higher education.
