Opportunity and Equity Luncheon
Noon, Monday, April 7
Everyone is invited to enjoy lunch at the Peabody, visit with your colleagues from around the district and discuss issues related to diversity and culture in your profession. Diversity in Higher Education…what exactly does that mean? Dr. Walter Kimbrough, the Hip Hop President of Philander Smith College, will speak at an Opportunity and Equity Luncheon on Monday, April 7, at noon. Dr. Kimbrough will talk about the challenges that we all face in attempting to build our institutions to mirror society. He will discuss the differences in student profiles of Caucasian students verses students of Color. Another area he will bring to light is the different challenges faced by Historically Black Colleges and Universities as compared to traditionally white institutions. As one of the youngest Presidents at a four-year college, Dr. Kimbrough will present an open and frank approach to diversity. For more information, please contact Michael Harris, Director of Development for Alumni, Oklahoma State University Foundation, (405) 744-3712, or mharris@osugiving.com.
